LITHOGRAPH                                                              "THE PIG"
Step 1. Transfer sketch to
watercolor paper. Apply
masking fluid to the roof lines
and waitress to save
foreground whites.
Step 2. Paint the sky using a
wet-into-wet wash method (wet
paper first, apply paint). Dry.
Lightly paint tree trunks. I
intentionally chose to include
pink, a pig color, in the sky!
Step 3. Paint the trees using
natural sponges, applying light
greens first and gradually
building darker greens on top
in layer
Step 4. Remove masking
fluid. Begin painting the
restaurant by applying light
layers of color first. Yellow
will receive red and be
brighter as a result.
Step 5. Continue painting
the restaurant. Apply
masking fluid to the cars
so that the parking lot can
be painted next.
Step 6. Paint the parking lot
using a wet-into-wet wash
method. Dry. Spatter the
foreground with a
toothbrush to create the
texture of concrete.
Step 7. Remove the masking
fluid. Paint the cars. Add the
finishing details like the signs
and waitress. Sign!
