Suzy married her junior high school sweetheart on her 17th birthday, was raised mostly in Columbus,
GA, but moved to Phenix City, AL when their daughters were small and resided there for almost 30
years. Suzy and her husband, Graylen, moved to McDonough, GA in the summer of 2013 where they
presently reside.

Suzy’s family includes her husband, Graylen, and her oldest daughter Jessica, her husband Chris
and their infant son, Hampton, her youngest daughter, Alexah , her husband, Phillip and their
daughter Oakley and infant son, Chapel.
Suzy retired from the US Postal Service as a mail carrier in Columbus, GA after 34 years of service.
She then went to the dental office of Dr. Christa Spann in Phenix City, AL where she worked as an
office manager for 3 ½ years. Suzy is presently retired and enjoys painting, cooking and spending
time with family.

Suzy has always loved color and enjoyed decorating and picking out colors & fabrics for friends and
family. Everyone turned to her for decorating tips. Having enjoyed the end results of color matching
and coordinating, she began taking a few continuing education art classes at CSU. Luckily, her first
instructor was a wonderful artist named Frenasee Rather Daughety. From the very start, ‘Frennie’
encouraged her to develop her own style and taught her that there was no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way to
paint. Though Frenasee has since moved to Dublin, GA, she continues to be a big inspiration and
encouragement to her.

Thought Suzy has no formal art education, she has taken numerous classes and has attended
various workshops & seminars from local and regional artists. She enjoys learning from other artists
and soon realized that the art world was not a competition, but artists that are genuinely willing to
help by sharing their ideas, perspective and techniques that have made them successful. She has
taken what she has learned from each artist and tried to incorporate it into her own style of painting.
Suzy is a member of the Columbus Artists’ Guild, participating in their annual members’ show where
she won a Third Place Ribbon and monetary award in the 2007 exhibit. She is a past member, and
Board member of the Joseph House Art Gallery in Columbus, GA, where she served as Gallery
Director. Her artwork can also be seen at the Front Porch Gallery in Columbus, GA
